Disney/Knottsberry trip

I love this time of year. The weather is a little chilly, the air is crisp, I have an excuse to wear jackets anytime I want, and cinnamon hot chocolate after the girls go to bed. Oh and a new favorite is that some of the theme parks decorate for Halloween! I have never been to Disney during the Fall, and since we were planning on going this year, we decided to go when they had the Halloween decorations up.

The roadtrip down actually went really well....or it could have been worse with the girls. The only frustrating part of the drive was the traffic. Somewhere near Barstow they cut the lanes down to 2, and that created backup where we were going 5-10mph for 2 hours. Surprisingly the girls did really well, it could have been that I keep a movie going on the dvd player. :) Either way, we finally made it to Anaheim and met up with my hubbys parents.

I had no idea that the day we planned for Disney was a federal holiday! and everyone in California had the day off. Guess where they decided to go?? Yeah...even with the rainy cold weather Disneyland was packed. Not what we were expecting, but we made the best of it. We were not able to go on all the rides, due to long lines, but the girls still had a lot of fun and that' what's really important.

I LOVED the Halloween decoration that Disney put in both parks. They were fun, creative, and made my visit worth it. :) side note: I love it when people decorate for Halloween. It seems that the market is trying to squeeze Halloween fun out while trying to push early Christmas shopping in. Anyway.

Another reason I enjoyed this trip? My oldest is finally tall enough to ride most of the rides! She tried Space Mountain, Big Thunder, and the Matterhorn! and she loved it! The Haunted Mansion was decorated for the Nightmare before Christmas, and it was amazing at how elaborate these decorations were outside and inside the ride.

After we hit all the important rides in Disneyland (for big and small kids) we went to the other park California Adventures across the way. Candy Corn decorations everywhere!! so much fun. the girls loved the decorations. We found more characters walking around there than at the other park. -- Can I just say how much I love my in-laws? My mom-in-law would watch the little girls so the big kids could go on their favorite rides. and when my hubby got tired of a rollercoaster ride, his dad would still go with me. --We went on Tower of Terror and the Screamer...2 favorites in that park. The girls loved the little rides like Monsters Inc, the carousel, and running up and down the board walk.

We only spent one day at Disney. The next day we went over to Knottsberry Farm, who also decorated their park with Halloween Decorations! I love this Snoopy themed park. It's perfect for a day and they have a lot of fun rides. We spent a lot of time in Camp Snoopy where they have most if not all of the kiddie rides. Most of these rides my youngest was able to go on and she LOVED that. One ride she pushed her way through the line and onto the ride to be with her sister, even though she was too short. :) Surprisingly, they let her stay on.

Due to some rain and windy weather, some rides were shut down until they dried off more. ONE of these rides was Ghostrider, their HUGE wooden rollercoaster that we missed a few years ago when it was closed for maintenance. We waited and kept checking back until finally it was open! I only had to go on this ride once. ;) It was super fast, bumpy, rocky, and wow did it feel like it was going to jump off the tracks. Just not what I expected after something like the white rollercoaster at Lagoon. That's a walk in the park compared to this. I would totally go again! and if you like wooden rollercoasters you have to try the Ghostrider.

But my all time favorite ride at Knottsberry?? The Silver Bullet. It is one of those where the coaster is attached at the top and your feet are dangling. :) My dad in law and I went on that ride at least 5 times :). If you're wondering where my kidlets were during this time? they were playing with their grandma in snoopys camp. Their favorite ride was te Red Baron's plane ride where they both shared the airplane..kind like Dumbo where it takes you up and down in a circle.

The next morning we headed home. Just a quick trip to CA. I have more pictures from our trip on facebook. This ended up being a lot longer than I expected. :) Overall it was a lot fun for the girls to play for a couple of days with their grandparents and to just go somewhere fun for a quick family vacation.
