Glee- Football Dance

I know I'm late in posting this, but every time I think about this scene I just start laughing. I've actually enjoyed the new show Glee and I usually catch up on episodes on hulu.com :)Last weeks show had a hilarious clip where the football team is dancing to Beyonce's Single Ladies. So I had to post it for those that haven't seen it yet. In a nutshell the football team stinks, they've lost all the games and had an idea that dancing might help loosen them up. You'll have to watch the whole episode on hulu.com to understand what's going on. If you watch the end, the kicker is who inspired the music/dancing. Anyway. enjoy! I laugh everytime I watch it. I'd also link Beyonce's video so you could see why it's funny....but if you're really interested I'm sure you can find it. ;)

My First Fondant Cake

My daughter just had her 5th birthday! I love making the cakes for my girls. This year I wanted to try something different -- Fondant. What a process, but so worth it in the end. My daughter wanted a Hello Kitty themed cake. Here are the pics of how I started this crazy process.

1st picture are of the 2 tiers. Each cake is filled with strawberry butter cream frosting, and then I frosting on the outside as well. don't ask how much butter I used...... ;) 2nd picture. I purchased pre-made white fondant and then just kneaded in the coloring. Here are the colors I ended up with. 3rd picture. I have rolled out and started putting the fondant on the cake! ahh! so nerve racking cause you want it just right and smoooothe. The cakes have been covered with the fondant and stacked. Last picture. The end result. For a first time using fondant, I think it looks great for a 5yr old cake. :) Just wish I had shared it with more people. After the birthday is kinda took a tumble in the car....whoops. Thanks to Amy who was more than willing to come help me cut out all those flowers, and then our kids rolled the little balls. My mom was there helping us keep an eye on 4 kids while we put things together. Definitely had fun and can not wait to make the next cake! just need practice..

Kacie's Wedding

I know it has been awhile since I've posted. I've had a couple friends push me lately to update something. Here is the first thing I want to share. A friend Amy and I have known since diapers was married last weekend. We're lucky if we get together once a year for lunch. I was so giddy that she invited us to her wedding. I love her family and have many great memories of when we were growing up.

Kacie has been in Chicago for....I don't know how many years, but she and her now husband, are both physical therapists. The chapel they chose to get married in was St Mary's Catholic Church, on the way to Park City. Beautiful church in one of the most serene settings. You walk in and you see these amazing stained glass windows full of reds, blues, and purples. I love stained glass, so I took a picture. :) wish you could see the detail and the colors in the glass. The wedding ceremony itself was unique and very interesting. My friend is a Japanese Buddhist, where her spouse is a Philippine Catholic. The picture below shows Father Torez, who I believe they flew in from Chicago, and the Reverend from the salt lake area. They each took turns in the ceremony, doing the different customs and traditions for each faith. They also added in the Philippines wedding traditions. I loved it. Father Torez said that this was his first wedding where he shared the ceremony with a Buddhist, in a catholic church, in Mormon country. :) I thought that was a little funny. Below is a picture of the my friend and her husband surrounded by the wedding party. I did borrow this picture from someone else..hope that's ok. I wanted to share a picture of the married couple. This is a beautiful shot of Kacie. I wanted to show off her gorgeous wedding gown.
And lastly the back of the wedding gown. Just amazing.
After the ceremony there was a break before cocktails and a sit down dinner at the Canyons Resort. Each table's center piece was a little wedding cake that they cut and served for dessert at the end. They shared a slide show of pictures (Amy was in one!!! I think they were 8yrs old?), family made comments and embarrassed both bride and groom, and then dancing to end the night. Had a wonderful evening! One of the best and most memorable weddings I've ever been to. :)
