The Holidays!
Sorry I haven't really been updating my blog, I've been enjoying the holidays with my family and taking a break from blogging. Let me start from the beginning.
The weekend before Christmas we decided to visit Jared's parents who are serving a mission in Chinle, Az (4 corners area). Chinle is located on a Navajo Indian reservation. I love seeing his parents, but it is definitely a different world there. We were also lucky to see Jared's sister Becca and her family, who were visiting from Mississippi. Our kids are around the same age and they just played and played, it was really fun to watch. They took us to the south rim of a canyon..it was gorgeous. You know the beautiful red rock canyons? Just a beautiful area. The kids also saw a small town parade, which grandpa and Becca were picked to judge. The cousins exchanged Christmas gifts and opened them early. The next morning his parents made a big breakfast (they are not usually breakfast people, lol) and it was delicious. We left for home just after that. Jared's dad suggested a different route through page to avoid the summit in Spanish Fork Canyon, but the new route added 3 hours to our trip. The trip home was pretty much a trip. =o) Poor Cadence was sick from the beginning. She threw up at last 3 times within the first 3 hours. When we made it to Page, we had to stop and get her some new clothes cause she had already gone through all her clean clothes. In the end we made it home safe..that's all that matters.
Christmas Eve we had dinner with our neighbor Jim, his friend Greg, Jordan, James, and Johnny. Full house. the last 3 were originally going to a movie, but the theatre was closed. lol. So they stayed for dinner and yummy rum cake. Christmas morning we took our time. It was hard to keep Cadence away from the presents, but she did until after we had breakfast and everyone was awake. Cadence LOVED all her presents...and her sisters. =o) We had a visit from my Dad, Kelly and the girls, and also from my mom later that night. It was a very relaxing, non-stressful day.
Towards the end of the week Amy and I threw a baby shower for our sweet friend Heather. She has 2 boys right now and she's having a girl in March! We had a really good turn out of friends and she has a lot of new girlie stuff for the baby. Amy and I love throwing these parties, we may go overboard sometimes, but it's worth it. Later that night Jared's brother John, and his wife Erin were sweet enough to come up and watch the girls so Jared and I could go on a DATE!. That's right..a date, our first REAL date in almost 7 months. It was wonderful! Jared surprised me with going to a late dinner at The Melting Pot. YUUMMY. We love going there for special occasions. kinda pricey, but since they sat us down much later than our original reservation time, they took care of our dessert.
THANK YOU JOHN AND ERIN! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!
So far we aren't doing anything for New Years. That's kinda hard to do with 2 little kids. We may go bowling or something just to get out of the house. We'll see about that later. I don't have many pictures to post cause they are all on Jared's camera. =o) maybe later.
Hope everyone had a great holiday season! Happy New Year!

Museums and Gingerbread
I know it's been awhile since I've posted. So here is what we've been up to. I've posted some pictures to show how much fun Cadence has had. Last week, Jared and I took our girls to the Children's museum at the Gateway. They are calling it Discovery Gateway. I remember when it was in an OLD OLD building, but they have moved it to the Gateway. A lot of the exhibits are the same, and then they have some new ones. I thought it was A LOT of fun, especially for kids. Everything is hands-on and Cadence was running everywhere.
The pictures I have below are 1. Cadence and Jared in a "market truck." They have an area where kids can pretend to have different professions. Cadence is pretending to drive the produce to the market. They even have a fake market for the kids to go grocery shopping and to check out.
2. On the roof, they have a life flight helicopter that the kids can get into and see what it's like. They also have other life saving professions that are explained up there. Cadence loved to fly the helicopter. and
3. Cadence and Jared are pretending to be weather reporters. The exhibit has a weather center, a main desk, and also some sound booths. My favorite was the building exhibits. They have multiple desks where you can build things..with magnets, or spin wheels...many different table. I especially liked the domino tables. The have a table for beginners and also for experienced. On the table is a pattern where you put the dominos--in the Robots exhibit. Anyway, it was fun. The price..ehhh, but it's worth it for the kids.

For the rest of the week and weekend I focused on Christmas. We finally got a mantle piece to go over the fireplace, which I painted white. And for YEARS I have been wanted to make and decorate a gingerbread house...not any type, designing and baking gingerbread in the oven, putting the pieces to together and decorating. Honestly, I'm glad I did it. This is definitely something you need to try once. I would do it again, but not every year. Next year I'm going to try graham crackers. I added some pictures of our living room, and my first EVER gingerbread house.
This week my wonderful older sister is coming into town for a week. I'm reallllly looking forward to having her in the same state. In that week time, my sister has mapped out where she is going to be at what time and with what parent (or friend). Also during that time, my parents have every holiday activity planned out so we can have that "holiday feeling" while she is in town. fun huh. Hope it all works out. Have a Happy Holiday everyone!!
