Easter in a blurrrr

Not sure how you felt, but Easter weekend was busy.  Almost a blur.

First up? One Cousin party. Only once a year (if we are lucky) do these cousins get together at one time.  So we met at a fun park, played egg games, decorated eggs, and just had fun
Remember this toy at the park?! I wish we had one near by.
Love this spin toy. The kids had fun playing on there too.
Next? rush over to the next Easter party.  My dad hard-boiled 72 eggs. But me? I found the 1 egg that wasn't boiled. I went to pick it up and it broke in my hands....getting everywhere. Luckily it was the only one.  The kids had fun decorating tons of eggs, eating pizza, and playing with family.
Here's a picture of them about to go on a potato sack race.
So cute! the adults even got into it (dad won).

That was just Saturday.  Luckily Easter day wasn't as busy.  After a nephews farwell in the morning, we lounged at home, kids had to search for their easter baskets, and then just dinner.  Good weekend.

A quick story to remember..

This story might be funny just to me, but I wanted to remember it all the same..

After I took my daughter to school yesterday I vaguely remember what I did with my car key, I was sure I left it in my sweater jacket.  Anyway, then the phone rang, I ran to answer it (my sister on the phone), but as I was running there I kicked something and it slid under the oven.  My sister remembers this cause when I answered the phone I told her that I kicked something, just couldn't figure out what it was. Well it wasn't until I was rushing to get in the car to get my daughter from school that I realized that I could not find my car key. (I say key 'cause it's only one, no other keys, no key chain..just my key.) I looked everywhere with no luck.  At this point I'm getting close to being late to pick up my girl.  I almost had to wake up my bro-n-law to use his car--did not want to do that. Then it dawned on me, I kicked something under the oven on accident. seriously!!  I pulled out the bottom drawer, and there it was....found my car key, barely making it to the school to get my daughter on time. whew. I had a good laugh from this.

**correction:  should mention this is my husbands key to the car, the ones I lost back in September are still missing. You'd think I would have found them by now... yay. nope.

Started Soccer and Rhyme Program

I started my oldest in soccer for spring.  We tried this when she was three and I hated it. Don't get me wrong, it was cute watching 3yr olds chase a ball like a swarm of bees. Anyway, figured we'd try again and her first game was last Saturday.  So far I like our coach, he is actually trying to teach them the game, how to play, and even some simple drills.  My daughter had a lot of fun at this game....maybe cause she made 2 of the 4 goals, and her team won against a group of boys. lol.

This morning was my daughters Rhyme Program at school.  They assigned 2 kids to a ryhme, they've been memorizing the rhyme for a couple of weeks, and then today recited the nursery rhymes in front of everyone.  My daughter and a girl from a different class were Mary Mary Quite Contrary.  All of the kids did a great job, some of those rhymes were tough.  All the kids dressed for the parts and had props. Oh...and something else I learned this morning. Doesn't matter if you arrive 45 min before the program starts, the front row's already taken (or saved by other people).

Movie Review: Limitless

Limitless
How do I describe this film?! I left the theatre liking the movie.  The effects during the movie were great...kinda trippy, but cool.  I loved watching Bradley Cooper change throughout the movie. He starts off as a writer suffering from writers block, looks like he's homeless, then he's given this clear pill that allows him to access 100% of his brain, and everything becomes "clearer" to him.  He completely changes his life, is motivated, always pushing forward...then the pill wears off and he has to have more.  Not only does he become addicted to this illegal pill, but his life becomes in jeopardy when a thug realizes the potential of this pill. Not a bad movie. :) and honestly, I could stare into Bradley Coopers bright blue eyes for a loong time.   6/10 stars

Movie Review: Rio and my update

 Rio
I could not wait to take my girls to see this movie! We have watched the trailers for months.  So after my oldest was finished with school, I scooped her up and we drove to the theatre!

The movie was cute.  The opening scene was seriously these exotic birds doing a musical number. Shows how a baby blue macaw is captured from the wild, and then taken to a small little town in Minnesota where he grows up domesticated.  The relationship between the Macaw (Blu) and his companion is adorable.   Sorry, to make a long story short, they go back to Rio to have him mate with the only other blue macaw (jewel) known to exist. Then the show gets interesting when both macaws are stolen and have a crazy adventure through Rio meeting friends along th way.  Did I mention that Blu, the domesticated macaw doesn't know how to fly?

Some of the voice talent? Jesse Eisenberg as Blu, Anne Hathaway as Jewel, Jamie Foxx, Will.i.am (am I supposed to know who that is?), George Lopez as the Toucan, Tracy Morgan as the slobbery dog, then Jane Lynch and Wanda Sykes have small roles.

Anyway, my girls and I thought the movie was cute, and loved seeing all the colorful exotic birds (even if they were cartoons).  7/10 stars.
Update:  As for the last week, the girls and I have been keeping busy.  My oldest loves the rec centers day care, so we've been going at nights. Some of the classes they offer are intense, but I miss my bootcamp workouts. Let's see...I've also made homemade applesauce--didn't want to run to the store just get one bottle of it, and I had apples on hand. that was fun and easy.  Needed the applesauce for a a cookie recipe! I went 8 weeks without a cookie and I caved today. They were my "healthier" oatmeal chip cookies, and soo good. But that's enough sugar for a while. I'll have to run longer this weekend to make up for the cookies. lol.  My oldest starts soccer this weekend. Tonight was her first practice.  Actually excited to see how the soccer game goes tomorrow. The coach was good with the kids and actually teaching them how to play the game.   that's all for now.....

Movie Review: Source Code

Source Code

The other night, I met up with my sister and my cousin for a little much needed movie time. Who would have thought that my sister and I would agree on a movie! Guess it helps when Jake Gyllenhaal is the main character. Anyway, the Source Code is supposed to be a sci-fi thriller.  The movie has great special effects, good script, and even good acting. :)

Maybe you remember the trailer?  Gyllenhaal plays an army captain, who awakes to find himself in another mans body, then realizes that he is on a mission to find the bomber who plans to bomb the train on it's way to Chicago.  The Source Code is a government experimental program which allows someone to re-live the last 8 minutes of someones life.  Gyllenhaal takes over the identity of someone from the bombed train in order to solve the puzzle of where the bomb is located, and to discover the identity of the bomber in order to stop a future bomb attack on Chicago.  He goes through the Source Code over and over and over again until his mission is completed.

You would think it ends there....but the movie has some really good twists and surprises.  Oh, but my favorite part of the whole night??? was when my sister called me after the movie and said.."I get it now...an alternate reality."  I could not stop laughing. I love my sister. I think I need to take her to a few more sci-fi movies.   7/10 stars.

One Week Left of Bootcamp!

5 weeks done, one week left to go of bootcamp training.

Just when I start feeling in better shape and I can really do these workouts, I only have one week left to go.  They take your measurements at the beginning of the 2nd week, and at the end of the 6th week they will take the measurements again to compare.  And I mean all measurements....hips, chest, thigh, butt, biceps and of course the weight. Actually looking forward to end of next week to see what I've done in the 6 weeks.

Every week he tests how long it takes us to run the mile on the treadmill. The first week was 14:38, then the next week 12:29, 11:30, and this week...10:04!! Yeah. I still hate running, but loved my time.

Remember the diet? Know what I miss eating most? bread..the smell of bread. lol. maybe that's my downfall and I really need to cut back.  Surprisingly haven't missed my coke, or cheese, or even milk.  I've really liked the vanilla soy milk that I've been using for my cereal.  and....I haven't cheated! one week...just one more week.  I have missed hot chocolate. :)
