Movie Review: Eat Pray Love

Eat Pray Love

Have you read the book? I have not. Last night I saw the movie with a friend.  We left not sure what to think of the movie. Besides dragging on, and feeling slow, I thought it was an ok movie.  Definitely a girls night out movie, but one you don't need to see twice.  The movie was 2.5 hours long! They could have finished it an hour earlier. (my opinion)

The movie follows Liz (Julia Roberts) who is a writer going through a rough patch where she's trying to find herself after divorcing her husband.  She ends up taking a year off to travel to Italy, India, and Bali.  The movie has a lot of spiritual meditation, yummy food (in Italy), and a little romance.  5/10 stars

I'm so glad you reviewed this. I wanted to see it because I like Julia Roberts. i think i will just read the book, I hear that it's really good.

The whole premise of the story bothers me so I probably won't see it. From what I read of reviews, no valid reason is given for her to be unhappy in her marriage, she's just dissatisfied. So, apparently if you're unsatisfied with your life as a wife(slash implied mother) you should just leave all responsibilities and committments and selfishly indulge all your "appetites" Oh, dang! Sorry, was that a tirade or what? :)

@Aroura, thanks for your input as well. I've only heard what a good book it was but I really didn't know anything about the book or the movie. It doesn't sound like I'd enjoy either of them.
