The Holidays!

Sorry I haven't really been updating my blog, I've been enjoying the holidays with my family and taking a break from blogging. Let me start from the beginning. The weekend before Christmas we decided to visit Jared's parents who are serving a mission in Chinle, Az (4 corners area). Chinle is located on a Navajo Indian reservation. I love seeing his parents, but it is definitely a different world there. We were also lucky to see Jared's sister Becca and her family, who were visiting from Mississippi. Our kids are around the same age and they just played and played, it was really fun to watch. They took us to the south rim of a canyon..it was gorgeous. You know the beautiful red rock canyons? Just a beautiful area. The kids also saw a small town parade, which grandpa and Becca were picked to judge. The cousins exchanged Christmas gifts and opened them early. The next morning his parents made a big breakfast (they are not usually breakfast people, lol) and it was delicious. We left for home just after that. Jared's dad suggested a different route through page to avoid the summit in Spanish Fork Canyon, but the new route added 3 hours to our trip. The trip home was pretty much a trip. =o) Poor Cadence was sick from the beginning. She threw up at last 3 times within the first 3 hours. When we made it to Page, we had to stop and get her some new clothes cause she had already gone through all her clean clothes. In the end we made it home safe..that's all that matters. Christmas Eve we had dinner with our neighbor Jim, his friend Greg, Jordan, James, and Johnny. Full house. the last 3 were originally going to a movie, but the theatre was closed. lol. So they stayed for dinner and yummy rum cake. Christmas morning we took our time. It was hard to keep Cadence away from the presents, but she did until after we had breakfast and everyone was awake. Cadence LOVED all her presents...and her sisters. =o) We had a visit from my Dad, Kelly and the girls, and also from my mom later that night. It was a very relaxing, non-stressful day. Towards the end of the week Amy and I threw a baby shower for our sweet friend Heather. She has 2 boys right now and she's having a girl in March! We had a really good turn out of friends and she has a lot of new girlie stuff for the baby. Amy and I love throwing these parties, we may go overboard sometimes, but it's worth it. Later that night Jared's brother John, and his wife Erin were sweet enough to come up and watch the girls so Jared and I could go on a DATE!. That's right..a date, our first REAL date in almost 7 months. It was wonderful! Jared surprised me with going to a late dinner at The Melting Pot. YUUMMY. We love going there for special occasions. kinda pricey, but since they sat us down much later than our original reservation time, they took care of our dessert. THANK YOU JOHN AND ERIN! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST! So far we aren't doing anything for New Years. That's kinda hard to do with 2 little kids. We may go bowling or something just to get out of the house. We'll see about that later. I don't have many pictures to post cause they are all on Jared's camera. =o) maybe later. Hope everyone had a great holiday season! Happy New Year!

It was fun! Felt like a date for us, too. A date, +2. Well, +1, 'cause Melody was asleep most of the time. When else do I have time to catch up on Disney Classics? Our New Years is probably going to be low key, too. We have a bunch of plans- but I think we might be boring enough to stay in, watch movies, and read. Haha. Happy New Year Em!
