I originally had a whole list of things I wanted to say about this movie, but since it took me over a week to finally post about it on my blog, I honestly don't remember what I was going to say. lol, so I'll try and remember what I can...
Shakespeare's classic has been taken over by garden gnomes! You have 2 feuding neighbor gardens, reds vs blues. I thought it was cleverly done and really cute for kids. They have lawn mower races in the back alley where no person can see them, plastic pink flamingos as friends, and mushrooms as pets.
The cast for the voices of the gnomes is definitely fun. Here are a few....James MacAvoy (love him), Emily Blunt, Jason Statham, Michael Caine, Maggie Smith, Ozzy Osbourne, Patrick Stewart, Dolly Parton...and even Hulk Hogan has a small part. ;-) The one thing I was not prepared for? All the music is from Elton John. Don't get me wrong, I like some of his music, I just wasn't expecting every song to be an Elton John song (even have a gnome look-a-like).
My girls really liked the movie, I thought it was cute, and since it is a children's cartoon, it ends on a more happy note than the original play. ;-) 6.5/10 stars.
