Movie Review: Battle: LA and Paul

I've been slacking on my reviews...so I'm trying to catch up.

 Battle: LA
If you like a lot of action, fighting, aliens are attacking kind of movie, then you should see this movie.  Basic storyline:  They think they see a cluster of meteors heading to earth, but they don't realize until it's too late that it's actually alien ships coming to wipe out the human race so they can have resources.   The aliens are hitting every major city near the ocean, but this story focuses on Los Angeles.  It is up to the Marines to save the day.  This team is pretty much the last ones standing and at the beginning you think they are going to lose..but it's the movies, of course they are going to figure something out! But getting there was fun to watch.

If you love action, soliders, aliens, then this is for you. Food show for all of that...yeah you've seen this story line before, but the graphics were actually really neat, the fight scenes had you on edge, and they even threw in a few corny scenes (yes I laughed..cause I thought they were funny).  My husband really liked the movie. I thought it was ok. :-)   5/10 stars.

Paul
Funny movie. Opening scene? two sci-fi geeks from England (Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost) are walking across the street to Comic-Con.  I thought that was hilarious.  After Comic-Con, they decide to take a UFO-themed road trip in an RV.   While on the road, they come across Paul, an alien that has been living in Area 51 for 60 years and has recently escaped.  Once they put him on board, their roadtrip takes a different spin...being chased by the "men in black", accidentally kidnapping a woman with a crazy dad, and all the while trying to get Paul to a place where he's going to catch a ride home.

Seth Rogan plays the voice of the Alien.  I thought he did a great job. The movie was funny, but it has a lot of bad language (kinda funny why....lol).  If you're a sci-fi fan, and you like the 2 english guys, then you'll like this movie.  5/10 stars.
