pink and pink

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've actually been really busy with my "spare time." To me, spare time is when Melody takes a nap or when both girls are asleep in bed. Anyway, for those that haven't heard, over a week ago my brother in law Jordan moved out of our home after a little over 2 years. I know some are saying..wow, 2 years?! Jordan was a very low maintenance guest, so it's bitter-sweet saying goodbye. The best thing to come out of it is Cadence gets her OWN ROOM! Once he moved out, I picked out new paint and decided to get to work. The "old" room is purple and green, so I wanted something completely different, something FUN. If you haven't guessed, I love color. Pink, yellow, and white. I wish I could show you how TALL this room is. I know I'm short, but even with a ladder it was hard to tape and paint the edges of the ceiling. The main game plan was the top 3/4 yellow and the bottom 1/4 pink. But I didn't stop there, I wanted to make it special. So I found a fun wall stencil in the diamonds (harlequin) and picked out 2 different shades of pink that would work together. Eventually I sponged on the lighter pink. I won't go into all the details, but this project took days. I finally finished it 2 days ago and all that matters is that she LOVES it. =o) I wasn't initially going for the princess theme, it just kinda happened. I saw the castle wall sticker and it all came together. Besides, she really loves the Disney princess, and the stickers I found come off reallllly easy if change my mind. I posted some pictures to show you kinda the process and the final project. It's kind of hard to see the yellow, I kept it subtle--reminded me of soft cream butter. =o) AND how often are you able to paint with PINK! that was probably the most fun I had in a while.

Other than my painting project, Jared has been sick for 2 weeks--no fun when husbands are miserable, and my sister Amy finally came to my house for a visit yesterday!! (due to earlier car issues, it's been awhile). We decided to enjoy the spring weather, so we took the kids to lunch and then to a park to play on the slides and swings. It was the first time my baby had been in a swing and she was laughing the whole time. Tonight I went with my mom to Ikea--spur of the moment. It was her first time at this store. Seemed like we were there forever--seriously almost 3 hours. I left with some plastic bowls, and she left with a basket full. =o) I was hoping to find some curtains for the newly painted room, but no luck, I'll have to look somewhere else tomorrow.

That's it for now. Have a good one! =o)

Love it. One day in like 2020 we will be in a house and get to paint the rooms. Your girls are growing up, so cute! Aren't girls the best?

Those stickers are such a good idea! It's awesome that she can indulge in her love of princesses without having to repaint when she gets over it. And the pink contrast is so cute. You are one devoted Mom :)
