Trip to the Zoo and more
Friday was my half-sister Lydia's 2nd birthday. My dad and his wife Kellie decided for a trip to the zoo! So I packed up my girls and headed to the zoo to meet my sister and her kids, my dad and his kids, and Kellie's mom, and sister's family. Definitely a party! My dad brought pizza, and cupcakes. (we were not allowed to bring in the balloons due to a possible choking hazard for the animals.) We met at the picnic table, and did I forget to mention it was FREEZING?! When I checked the weather forecast, it said 49 degrees. When we got to the zoo it was 33 degrees. Luckily I have a sister who plans for these things. I thought I had my girls dressed warm enough, but it was a lot colder than I expected. Amy had an extra jacket for Cadence to put under the jacket I brought, and an extra blanket for Melody. My favorite part of the morning at the zoo, apart from seeing my family?? the HOT CHOCOLATE! The zoo wasn't very full, which was nice and probably due to the cold temps. The coolest animals for that trip? probably the zebras! I have NEVER seen the zebras so active. They were running around in circles, playing around with their food dish, it was awesome. And probably the monkeys, they are always fun to see. The lions, tigers, and bears were all taking naps. =o) The weirdest part of the day? Well it started out at 33degrees around noon on Friday, and by the time we left around 3pm the temp rose to 55 degrees!! seriously crazy, but we're in Utah, the weather is crazy. =o) The trip to the zoo was a lot of fun (even in the cold), and all the kids were really good.
The rest of my weekend was really relaxed. Amy and I met up with my mom (no kids!) on Saturday to see a movie. The movie was saw was Miss. Pettigrew lives for a day. Just a cute, good clean movie. One of those feel good movies. =o) It was really nice that our husbands watched the kids for a few hours so we could have time to ourselves, which doesn't happen very often. After the movie we got a quick bite to eat at a place called Orchid, Thai food. This was Amy's first experience with Thai food, and I think she'd be happy if she never had it again. hahaha.
Other than that, the only other thing I've done besides watching my beautiful girls is watch my neighbors house, his FIVE cats, and 1 dog. My neighbor Jim has been off to Houston looking for a house and I couldn't say no to watching his "family." For those that don't know, I'm VERY allergic to cats. Not all the cats are Jims. Jim has 2 cats, and his friend Greg as 3. Since they are showing his house, they put all the cats in 2 separate LARGE kennels in the garage. They have lots of room to move around. I was never allergic to cats, until around high school. I love cats, they just don't love me. =o) During this time watching the house, I've been keeping down my allergy meds, without them it's unbearable. Jim has one cat in particular, Cleo, that really tried my patience. The first day she overturned their litter box and spread it everywhere in the kennel and anytime I went to open the kennel she was there waiting for me to make a mistake so she could escape. never happened. lots of fun, but today is my last day watching the cats, and dog. =o)
OH! lets end on another happy note. I found out last night that my sister Lisa, and her hubby are coming to visit this weekend!! I'm soo excited! I haven't seen her husband John for a couple years. I hope it's ok that I say this, but he's coming here for a few days visit because he's about to be deployed soon.. It'll be nice to have him around and see him before he goes.
Hope everyone has a great week. =o)
