weekend so far

So far it has been a really nice weekend. I don't know about you, but I am LOVING this weather. All my windows are open, the cool breeze is blowing in, the smell of rain....love love love it. I've always been a sucker for the rain and thunder storms.

Friday, my girls and I went with our neighbor to walk her son to the elementary school. Since it was his short day, we then went to a park nearby to let our younger kids play while we waited till school was out. I found out that my 15 month old really likes going down slides. I started out by putting her on her sisters lap since she had never really been on a slide before. Next thing I know she's trying to climb up the slide. So I picked her up and put her back up on top and she went down the slide herself...feet first on her belly. She had the biggest smile on her face, I wish I had my camera then. Well we continued this routine for a while(she slides down, walks to me, I pick her up and put her back at the top and she goes down again). It was hilarious. And I'm not talking about the straight slides...this was the twisty slide. When school finally got out, the kids swarmed out like nothing I had ever seen. I could not believe how many kids they fit in that school! The school is already pretty big, but it's also surrounded by MANY mobile buildings for more classes. This school is not that old, but they have six 6th grade classes, and who knows how many of the other grades. Something else I noticed--now I know I'm short (shorter than most) but some of these 6th graders were as tall as me! I swear they weren't that tall when I was in grade school. I just had to laugh, it was a fun afternoon.

When I got home from the park yesterday I found out that my brother in law and his wife had their baby boy! hooray! congratulations. =] That was yesterday, then earlier today my family went down to check on them and see how they were doing. Their baby boy is so adorable, and definitely a little trooper. I can't wait till they are all settled at home and we can see him again. Baby boy Hattaway makes number 11 for the Hattaway grandkids (8 boys, 3 girls). Note to self: when BYU is having a home game, plan around traffic times. lol. I've never been a fan of driving in that county, especially on game days. On the way home we saw an accident on state street in Orem...5 car bumper to bumper byu blender. lol. seriously, every single one of them had their byu shirts on going to the football game. luckily they were all ok, but it just reminds me of how I dislike driving down there. On a side note: BYU won the game! =]

Let me go back a few hours, this morning I went to a surprise breakfast party for my friend Kelli. I haven't seen Kelli in years, and it was so nice to finally see her again. I've missed my friends from college, that was a great time. Her sister Kristin was awesome in planning it and getting her there. It was really good to catch up, and I was able to see Kelli, Kristin and her little family, meet some of Kelli's friends, AND another fun surprise was my old freshman roommate Jennifer was able to make it! A little byu reunion. =] So my morning started out with a big smile on my face, what a great way to start your day. I have pictures!!

Here's the group that showed up, minus the one that took the picture (thanks Janell!).
