Movie Review: Burlesque

You may be saying...wow she's been seeing a lot movies lately...and it's true.  Tis the season for a certain spouse to go snowboarding on certain days...and when he gets home, I may treat myself to watching a movie. Helps that there are movies out right now that I want to see.  Yesterday I was lucky to drag my sister to a movie! (ok..I knew she wanted to watch it too..)

Burlesque
Have you even heard of this movie?? Maybe you did, saw that it has Cher and Christina Aguilera and tossed the idea out of your head. Other people you might recognize that are in the movie? Eric Dane (McSteamy), Kristen Bell, Stanley Tucci, Julianne Hough (DWTS), Cam Gigandet (bad vampire in 1st twilight) to name a few.

The movie is about a small town farm girl (Aguilera) who decides to change her life, leave her hometown, and move to LA to find something different.  In her search, she stumbles on a place called Burlesque Lounge, walks in, and falls in love with the place. She starts off as a cocktail waitress, and pushes herself to be onstage. Little does the owner (cher) know that this small town girl has a big amazing voice, and hopefully this voice will save the Lounge from shutting down.

Anyway, I actually liked this movie...but I'm a softy for movies with dance and music...even if it is Cher and Aguilera doing the singing. I thought the music was great, loved the dance routines (if you don't like women in skimpy outfits..may not be the movie for you), the acting was ehhh...but they had enough good acting that it made up for the bad. PG13. 6/10 stars.
