Today was a big day. I took my girls to their first dentist appointment. I know, I'm a slacker mom, but I've never been a big fan of the dentist...can we say traumatized as a kid? So I've been avoiding the dentist. Circumstances changed that. My oldest has 2 of her big teeth coming in behind her baby teeth. Similiar to shark teeth. The appointments was mainly for cleaning, checking for cavities, and seeing if the baby teeth needed to be pulled. On a side note: NO CAVITIES!!! for both! seriously....obviously didn't get my teeth, I always had a cavity when I was a kid. My girls were awesome during the cleaning, loved the staff, they were great with them and made it less stressful. Definitely helps by going to a pediatric dentist. After the cleaning, the dentist came in and checked out my oldests shark teeth. He thought it would be best if they were pulled so the teeth had somewhere to go. When my daughter heard that, she began to freak out...understandably. If you were 6 and told that you were geting something pulled out of your mouth, you'd probably have the same reaction. She was holding onto me for dear life and would not open her mouth for the dentist...just getting her to lay back down was a miracle. Finally we were able to numb the gums, and many tears later the teeth came out, the 2 bottom front teeth. After it was done my daughter was fine; she realized it wasn't that bad, and they put her teeth in a cute little treasure box so we could take them home. The toothfairy is visiting tonight!!

Glad I'm not the only one avoiding taking my kids to the dentist. I was also traumatized as a kid. Yeah for tooth fairy, no cavities, and brave girls. You must be an awesome Mom.
