Book Club

It has taken a few months, but I finally made it to book club. Back in May someone placed a flyer on my door for a neighborhood book club. I was definitely interested, but didn't do anything about it. I had that flyer taped to my wall for 3 months before I emailed the lady for more information. Just my luck, the next Saturday they were meeting to discuss the first 2 parts in Breaking Dawn. So last night I walked over to where they were meeting and had a good time. I am really working on being more social and meeting new people. I met 5 new ladies that live near me, and I was surprised to find out that I kinda knew one of them. I'd try to spell her name, but I know I'd mess it up. She recognized me first. Her husband Dave is friends with my brother in law and we sat next to each other at John and Erin's wedding last year. Anyway, I have never been to a book club before so it was a new experience. The group that showed up last night are die hard Twilighters, although a few with mixed feelings about the book. We started off with a questionnaire, then discussed the different parts of the book, what we did or didn't like. What I noticed, and this is just my observation from the group last night, was that those that were "Team Jacob" had a harder time with the book. The last thing we did was watch clips of an interview with Stephenie Meyer from Entertainment Weekly Online. A lot of good info (spoilers if you haven't read it), and answers questions related to the book. Three hours later I walked home, had a great time talking about Breaking Dawn, and will be back for the next book discussion. That is another thing I like about Book Clubs, it takes you out of your comfort zone and gets you reading books that you wouldn't normally read. Did I mention they are opening the movie Twilight at an earlier date?! NOVEMBER 21st! One of the ladies from the book club has a friend that is renting out a screen at a movie theatre for the midnight showing. If anyone's interested let me know and I'll keep you updated. Looks like when Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince moved their opening date to July09, that's when Twilight grabbed that new opening date. I still have issues with who they have cast in the Twilight movie, but I'm secretly hoping that with my low expectations that the characters will grow on me and the movie will exceed my expectation and I won't be disappointed. =] 3 months to go!

Hey thanks for the info on the movie. I didn't know it was opening early ... glad to be "in the know" now. By the way I just finished Breaking Dawn today... loved every bit of it.

Hey, good for you, Em. Book Clubs are fun. My book club usually talks about the book for like 15 minutes and then we just talk about whatever and eat dessert for like 2 1/2 hours. We love it.
