How do I describe this movie. I hope you like the color green! I thought it was an ok movie, and I love Ryan Reynolds, so I enjoyed watching the movie. From the beginning I was trying to rack my brain on which comics were on DC comice and which were Marvel...yeah, I just don't care.
If you are unfamiliar with the Green Lantern, it's about a group of a green lantern brotherhood that are sworn to protect the intergalactic order. Each are given a ring that give them superpowers. Reynolds character is the first human ever inducted into the brotherhood and they do not trust him in taking the will power. Then an old enemy shows up, fueled by fear, and the brotherhood have to work together to try and defeat him.
Not a bad movie. Ryan Reynolds is himself...funny, cute, and serious when needed. I thought his personality helped the movie. Of course they have it set up for a 2nd movie. 5/10 stars
Have you heard of this movie? A romantic comedy. Owen Wilson plays a hollywood script writer visiting Paris with his fiancee (Rachel McAdams) and her family. I thought the movie was charming. Owen's character loves the city of Paris, and while hs is out on a walk, he gets lost and at the stroke of midnight an old 20's car pulls around and he is invited to a party.
(spoilers..) The car takes him to the 1920's where he meets his literary heros like Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and artists like Dali and Picasso. He is thrown into what he thinks of as the golden age...the 20's in Paris. So every night at midnight, he goes back to the 20's, starts having feelings for one of the ladies. Rachel McAdams plays the not so interested fiancee. Honestly she plays a snooty spoiled brat...very convincing. Other greats in the cast? Kathy Bates, Adrian Brody, and Michael Sheen. 6/10 stars
love xmen...(and realized xmen is a marvel comic). and I really like James McAvoy--so both of them together? how could I say no? I was pleasently surprised after I watched this movie. Seeing the beginnings of how it all started, how Charles and Eric first met, seeing their friendship, and how they started finding other mutants was very cool and interesting. The neatest surprise?? Kevin Bacon as the villian! that was awesome! I really did enjoy this movie. The backstories you don't really get in the other movies....even had quick cameos from wolverine and an older mystique. One character I really liked was Frost, played by January Jones (who I think looks like Grace Kelly). yay xmen!! 8/10 stars
