When you plan a party for little kids 3-6 yrs old, you want to keep it simple---at least I want to keep it simple. Mess at my house? no thank you. We've never had real big parties for our girls, but this year we tried something different. The invite list included both friends and family, we reserved a pavillion at a fun park with a splash pad, and even found a deal on an inflatable. Food? pizza...kids love pizza. Then I made rainbow cupcakes for everyone, and one giant cupcake cake for the birthday girl (she thought that was awesome, she had a big cupcake all to herself).

The wind at the park was crazy, but didn't bother any of the kids--the adults were the ones chasing after flying plates, pizza, and watermelon. :). The favorite attraction? the princess castle bounce house/slide. Getting the company there on time to set it up was a joke--over an hour late showing up--but at least the kids had a good time. Watching the bounce house filled with kids laughing and having a lot of fun was just what I wanted.

The birthday girls Auntie brought bubbles for all the kids, which they loooved. Even had a couple of surprise guests! My husbands parents drove up from their home in Colorado for the weekend. It was definitely unexpected and the birthday girl absolutely loooved seeing her grandpa and grammie.
| one of my favorite pics. my husband is chasing my twin sister, picks her up and gets her drenched at the splash pad. (that's my sisters husband watching on the left) hehehe. |
Overall we ended up with just over 30 adults and kids! Much more than my usual limit to 5 kids party. haha. but loved being with family and friends. I had a blast making the cupcakes and the cupcake cake...it took most of a day, but so worth it to see that little face light up with a smile.
My baby is growing up.

We had a blast and feel so privileged to be included in Mel's 4 year old Birthday Bash. You did a wonderful job on everything. What a lucky little girl Melody is to have such a wonderful momma like you!
Your cake and cupcakes were Amazing! And that was NOT a simple party....hello....bounce house, splash pad, park...48 cupcakes...not simple. but awesome :) Thanks!
Wow sounds like you had quite the party! It sounds like so much fun. I keep trying to plan fun parties but I never get more than 2 kids no matter how many I invite. Happy Birthday Melody!
