The Dirty Dash
Over the weekend, my husband and some of his coworkers teamed up for the Dirty Dash 5k. Basically it is a 5k mud run obstacle course. Who doesn't want to play in the mud like kids? The picture above is the before...nice and clean start. The starting line is behind them...and just after that? a water hose, making sure they all start out nice and wet.
They had many obstacles along the run, for example -- climbing over 4ft walls, large hay bales, a giant slip n slide, and at the end, before the finish?? a HUGE mud pool (pictured above..my husband is in there somewhere, hard to tell when they all look alike covered in mud). No way you would leave without being covered head to toe in mud.
The dirty dash is no small race. sold out. Over 5000 crazy mud lovers signed up. These races lasted all day. In the morning they had the single racers, had kid races, and then later that afternoon were the team races. Every 20 minutes they had a new wave of runners off to play in the mud. Above is the after shot of the team, or what I like to call the Dirty Finish.
Even found some friends at the race! Here is a shot of the Whitey Tighty group, they are made up of people from Boot Camp. You wouldn't know that they were dressed all in white before the race started. After the race, they did offer really cold showers to clean off. Everyone donated their mud soaked shoes, threw away the socks..and some even shed off other articles of clothing.
In the end, everyone had a good time, the obstacles and mud made the race more fun and challenging. Who knows.....I'm thinking of trying this out next year. Looks like they have a 10k later this year if it's something you are interested in trying!
