Book Review: Glassblower of Murano

The Glassblower of MuranoThe Glassblower of Murano by Marina Fiorato

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Another book I picked up at the library as a readers choice book. I actually enjoyed it. This is one of those books that tries to weave the past with the present. The book starts in 1680's Venice, where glassmaking is more precious than gold--especially Venetian Glass. One man--Corradino Manin, was the Master of glassmaking. The Ten, which are the keeps/justice in Venice have imprisoned most of the glassmakers on their own island to keep their secrets safe, but Manin sells his secrets to King Louis XIV in France to keep his secret daughter safe from the The Ten. Jump to present day and his descendent Leonora, leaves her sad life in England for Venice to find herself and to follow in the footsteps of her ancestor. Sadly, the past starts to haunt her as well and she wants to learn as much of Corradino as possible. The story was sweet, and I thought weaved really well.

hahaha...looks like I'm only reading romance books, which is kinda true right now..I'm waiting for some other books to show up at the library.
