Had one of those days where you just need to get out of the house?! that was last night. After the kids went to sleep, I picked up a friend and we decided to chat over dessert, then a LATE impromptu movie! Not much to choose from at our theatre, but I'd heard some good things about this movie.
Gwyenth Paltrow plays Kelly Cantor, a well known country singer just getting out of rehab and jumping right back into an Encore tour. She brings along Beau, Garrett Hedland..hottie from Tron, and another new rising star Chiles, Leighton Meeter..from Gossip Girl, to be her opening acts for the concert. Tim McGraw plays her disgruntled husband/manager James.
Honestly, the movie was ok, but if it wasn't for the good music/soundtrack, the movie wouldn't be nearly as good. Paltrow holds her own, but Garrett Hedland really did a great job and I thought shined more than the others. *kinda spoiler. There is supposed to be very sad scene at the end of the movie, but I didn't feel any sadness, or grief over this character. Maybe at the beginning of the movie....when you realize why she's in rehab, that's a little sad, but my emotions were not in sync with what the movie was hoping to achieve. not sure if that made sense. Anyway. not a bad movie, not a great movie, but a great soundtrack if you like country music. :)
